There is a gatso marked here, which I'm pretty certain does not exist. Of course, it's always possible I missed it - but the recent-ish Google maps view of the gantry would seem to confirm it :-

If Streetview confirms your observation then give it a few weeks.

M8TJT and I performed a Streetview exercise a few weeks ago where we compared outstanding submissions date against the Streetview date and where Streetview was newer we were able to make a decision.

Due to unforseen circumstances there has been a delay getting these live, but even so, given the sheer number of cameras rejected or accepted it's not going to be quick.

In all we checked about 1,400 cameras across the whole of the UK.

Just checked our 'project' entry:

It has indeed been flagged for removal accept although the Streetview entry and request are both Aug 18.

But if it wasn't there in Aug 18, that seems reasonable to accept the removal?

But there is a CCTV cam just at that gantry, lines on the road, but no cams on gantry.

Yep, that's why I flagged it for removal Wink

You could always pop up to Wakefield and check it out. The personal touch.

Look west a bit from it and you'll see my old school - Rodillian Academy.

There definitely were cameras along this stretch of M62...installed shortly after they'd (finally) completed the smart motorway "upgrade", if I remember correctly.

I don't know when they were removed ... for quite a while, I've assumed I was just looking in the wrong place (and by the time I'd returned to the wrong side of the Pennines, I forgot all about them).

As an aside, this is the spot where I lost my sandwiches, off the back of my bike - some time in the mid '80's! By the time I noticed, I was down by J30, so I doubled back ... and saw my bag on the hard-shoulder of the opposite carriageway. By the time I'd looped around the M1 interchange and was heading back in the right direction, the bag had gone!

It's just one of those neighbourhoods, where they'll nick 'owt Smile

Whilst doing 'the project' I noticed quite a lot of reported Specs cameras were often a few hundred yards out.

At the point of submission there were sometimes CCTV or nothing in view. We had to 'drive' using Streetview and compare the nearest database camera location with the submission.

This seems to be one of the drawbacks of the CamerAlert system of instant transmission where at 70mph it's often way adrift.

PhilHornby yes, there were lots of cameras along that stretch (I know, I submitted and verified a lot of them) and there are hardly any along there now!
