PaulB2005, sorry, I meant to ask -- as we have the same phones and software -- does CamerAlert work in the background for you or does it disappear after a mile or two?

No problem. I haven't used it much recently but I'll run it for a day or two and see what happens.

Drove all the way to work with CamerAlert in the background.
Not a peep!!

Will try in the foreground later.

Interesting. Any idea how many cameras would normally have been alerted?

To confirm this is under

Background App Refresh

The switches here determine if an app can continue to run in the background.

My iPhone 6s iOS 11.3.1 doesn't list BAR for CamerAlert either.

Just checked my old iPhone 5 (iOS 10.3.3):
CamerAlert is NOT listed

Just checked my current iPhone 6s Plus (iOS 11.3.1):
CamerAlert is NOT listed

Just checked my wife's current iPhone X (iOS 11.3.1):
CamerAlert is NOT listed

I always run CamerAlert in the background (TomTom GO Mobile in the foreground) and I've had intermittent warnings from CamerAlert for a while - I always thought that it was me forgetting to start it.

When I realise that CamerAlert isn't warning, I bring it to the front then send to background and it then usually works for a while.

Looks like CamerAlert does have a problem running in the background for me.

Regards,

Is there any way to report this fault apart from this discussion?

What have you got set in Privacy - Location Services - CamerAlert?

Mine was set to "While Using the App". I will try it later with "Always" selected to see if this makes it work in the background.

Have tried both to see if it makes any diffetence. It doesnít. . We need BAR back: itís what enables apps like CamerAlert run in the background.

PGPSW: can you tell us anything? Please . . .

In the background the alerts stopped but then when I got home there were notifications for the two locations I passed. But no audio alert.

Agreed, it made no difference. I am not getting the alerts at the end of the journey either. I passed 5 cameras the first one within 30 seconds of putting CamerAlert in the background alerted properly (display and sound), nothing at all for the other four cameras.

Why don't you try clicking on the 'Support' tab at the top right(ish) of the page?

But to save you looking for it, it's HERE
