OK, I say class it as a Monitron on the submission(s) - it's tall and digital. I'll just add a note in the backend so I know which one we're sealing with.

I don't suppose they gave it a name..?!

No, sorry, he just refers to it as a fixed spot camera. It's effectively in the same location as Truvelo 5479.

I know these are Specs but the design looks similar.

Jenoptic also do 'Vector' cameras.

Look at the Specs3 Vector PDF.

I think it's a Specs 3 Vector camera with a radar module next to it to make it work as a fixed camera but I've asked my new friend at the Safety Camera Partnership what make/model they are. Will report back if I get an answer.

Many years ago I had a Jenoptic el cheapo digital camera so they've branched out.

It's not a Batman logo it's the Jenoptik Vector logo which is suppossed to represent headlights.

The new style cameras have been in position for some time now but the old Truvelo cameras in the same positions have never been removed. I know they are still using the old Truvelos because I've seen them changing the films in them recently.

The local road safety camera partnership has been updated to include the following new camera type:

Vector SR

The Vector SR cameras are also situated at permanent sites on the roadside. The system uses radar to calculate the speed of moving vehicles bi-directionally and simultaneously.

Once calculated the system will activate the camera if it exceeds the pre-set threshold.

Two pictures are then taken in readiness for processing but no road markings are required. The secondary check is carried out by means of a software calculation comparing the position of the vehicle, and the known fixed position of a specific object within the images.

So now we know what they are.

As you say, these cameras don't need road markings, are considerably smaller and are mounted far higher, thus semi out of sight, than the old Gatso box.

They should catch quite a few urban street law breakers.
