|

Hi All,
I'm a newbie to Sat Nav and so even newer to the whole speed cam thing so apologies if I'm asking something basic. I subscribed to the Pocket GPS database, downloaded the files as detailed in the installation instructions and uploaded these to my Navi 900. So all seemed good. Now these seem to exist on the system but I can only access them when I go through the menu as follows: Destination - POIs - POIs along route - My POIs. This lists pages of camera locations but only lets me add them to my route as a waypoint. It would take an age to add these to every route I take! There is no other way I can find to see these imported POIs via the menu system and so see them onscreen as I drive. Looking online pointed me to old articles which had a Config menu which no longer exists in the current Navi 900 software, at least not in my Astra. Please can someone help me put this right? Thanks Simon.
Edit: Just another thought. When I insert the USB, the Navi 900 says "new locations found" and asks "Save" or 'Dismiss". This is the only way I can get the camera database to upload. If I try to Upload via the menu system it doesn't seem to find the database even though I have tried several different USB sticks and different formatting protocols. The Navi is clearly able to read the USB so I have no idea why it doesn't offer a menu driven upload. Any help is greatly appreciated. |

Don't waste your time - the newer navi 900 does not allow camera warnings.
As you have found you can add them but the only thing you can do with them is navigate to them.
Vauxhall say it is due to the French banning camera warnings but the odd thing is I gather you could buy a Renault and the sat nav can give warnings. |

Thanks for the response dapjukebox. So you're basically saying that all I can do is navigate to the speed camera POIs? I can't even have them appear on a route! To me it seems like I have been sold this under false prestenses. I will be asking for a refund. |

If your unit has bluetooth then you may be able to connect your phone.
I only found out recently that my Honda connects flawlessly to my phone and when CamerAlert triggers a warning, it mutes the audio, so I don't miss it, gives the warning, then returns the audio.
For me it's the perfect solution. _________________ Satnav:

@Admin. C'mon, fix it. |

Thanks guys. Great feedback! I'll be asking for a refund. This item isn't fit for the purpose I bought it for. |

I have been issued with a prompt refund. Very impressed with the response/service and PGPSW in general. Now off to check phone apps to link to Navi 900 as per Kremmen's advice. |

Can you define 'newer'? Is it, eg, 2017 model and later? 2016?

To follow my advice you need the subscription to CamerAlert to point it to your car bluetooth.
You've now lost access to the best database around ! _________________ Satnav:

Kremmen, I think I can download the app on android phone and then get latest database without payment. I will then blue tooth/Android Auto connect to Navi 900 and if this pairing works as well as you say (might not be as good as your Honda?) then I will resubscribe right away. Happy to pay if it gives me what I need. Very disappointed that I can't use Navi 900 alone as I was hoping to do without need of extra devices. |

I believe it'd the Navi 900 IntelliLink version.
My 2016 Insignia will not give warnings.
Not sure when the change occurred. |

Got you, don't forget to set CA to Bluetooth mode in the advance settings. _________________ Satnav:
