Their support people have just replied and they have dropped adding POIs to the system.

Now looking at Copilot!

Hi Allan,

An extremely backward step as that could have been the functionality that would have brought them a lot of disgruntled ex-TomTom users.

I believe that CoPilot iOS can handle custom POIs to some degree and that speed cameras can be loaded as one file. Other custom POIs can also be loaded but I couldn't find any up-to-date documentation on how to edit POIs (I guess that you reload them), how to remove custom POI categories that you've previously installed, or specifications about the icon size and structure.

If you do find anything please let us know here.

Regards,

Seems like they are going the way of tomtom.
Get an older version that does support directional PGPSW cams

Do you know what version they stopped at? I will need to update the compatibility chart and we've also started getting support tickets about it...

Not offhand as I removed it from the tablet. It was the update they released a few weeks ago.

Co-pilot also has issues. Its fine for the Speedcams from here but stopped accepting other POIs. It is rapidly looking like TomTom for Android!

Which version of TomTom are you going to use on your android? There's the old TomTom app and the newer TomTom GO Mobile.

On iOS, although TomTom GO Mobile was released in March 2016 (i.e. currently 11 months ago) it's nothing more than a basic SatNav with limited usability and certainly doesn't support custom (i.e. third party) POIs.

The older iOS TomTom app is much better than than GO Mobile but is no longer available on the iTunes app store.

On the whole, SatNav developers are going away from supporting custom POIs. If just one broke from the norm and offered custom POIs then I think that they'd get a good market share.

Regards,

Its Go Mobile on Android. You can now import custom POIs via MyDrive which seems to work.

I am also looking at MapFactor with the TomTom maps on it.

Sounds like android version of GO Mobile is much more advanced than iOS.

When you import POIs via MyDrive do the icons show in the navigation screen and the map screen?

I haven't got that far! I am already a major step forward than with everything else.

It doesn't allow icons to be uploaded though that isn't a problem.

i know it's not perfect, but Sygic supports custom POI (and if you get rupi manager it will elt you convert from different formats) - it doesn't support 3rd party speed cameras, but if you have cameralert this will overlay the speed warnings on the screen.

i was just looking at the size of igo - 222mb download

I have been looking at the lot! I can't remember why I didn't go down the Sygic route but it was to do with POI support.

Co-pilot does but their latest release is causing problems with importing them though they are in the process of fixing it.

I looked at Aponia which supports POIs and Mapfactor. I have gone down the Mapfactor route as they use OSM and TomTom maps.

Shame about Sygic. They used to support third party speed cams proximity alerts, but removed the 'facility' a few updates ago. You can still load the PGPSW database to give you the icons on the map (Sygic's speed cams are not very good) and use CA as the actual warning method.
Not sure if Sygic still have their .CSV to whatever program that allows adding of PGPSW speedcams as POIs. I have a copy.
