I have downloade some useful POI's but some like KFC and pizzahut say I am not authorised and ask me to check username and password for this site and check which groups you are allowed to down load. any one know whats up?

You will need to register at the poihandler website to be able to download their POIs. This is free and will enable you to download most of their POIs. If you want their premium downloads, you will have to pay an annual fee.

You do not need to register for the pocketgps downloads.

I dont fully understand do you mean the likes of KFC web site, what is a POI handler

The POI files are all obtained from websites which POI Edit links to.
www.poihandler.com is one of them and this is where the "kfc" file is coming from.

You will need to register at the above address to download any of the files that come from them. After registration, you will have a username and password that you can enter into POI Edit. The poihandler website has 2 levels of service: free and subscription. In the poi edit update manager you will see a column titled "Auth". POIs that say registered in this column are free and those with subscribed only come with the payed subscription.

pocketgpsworld.com files are completely free and do not require a username or password.
