I have to confess I wasn't paying much attention as the phone rang while the update was in progress, but it seems my Nuvi 2548 was updated to Ver 5.40 this morning.
Something about improved handling of large maps?
Google doesn't seem to know much about it. |

It's an update for most of the nuvi range. I suspect it's to enable future map updates that will break the FAT32 4Gb file limit. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

.... and the Garmin internal memory size as well
I've cut my 2597 back to UK&I from full Europe. Quite happy with that ploy as I have 0% intention of going abroad.
2599 still holds full Europe, at the moment. _________________ Satnav:

My 2508 initially just had UK. I added the full EU map that is now on a card. The current EU map is just a tad under 4Gb, so as well as this update I suspect there will have to be a change in Express. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Ah! a 4Gb map is pretty big. And would be be well over 50% of the Nuvi 2548's nominal 8Gb internal storage. |

My 2597 has the update pending but not yet released for the 2599.
2599 is on a different series and is at 8.5

Noticed my first glitch with v5.40. I can't now clear my Where To? history. Also, I note that when setting a route the unit no longer asks if I want to simulate the route - well done (again) Garmin. _________________ Dabri.

Do a master reset, that generally clears any glitches after a software update. First though I think your 3598 has a sleep mode, do a full shutdown and restart, that may be enough, if not then try the master reset _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |
