Hiya, i seem to have an issue where camera alert shows more cameras behind me than in front..

I get cameras that are behind me from over 2 miles away yet cameralert only seems to show cameras in front of me at around 1000 yards ish..

Warnings appear as normal (usually when the camera pops up in front of me.)

Is there any way to have cameras show up in front of me but warn when they hit my defined warning settings?

Thanks

Hello richard_tricky

If you start the CamerAlert app on your phone, open the menu and select *Settings* which displays various options.

Click on the bottom line which is *Advanced Settings*, scroll down about 10 lines and tick the box for *Hide Cameras Behind Me*

The manual for the app which explains even more user settings can be found by clicking the large, middle tab at the top of this page called *Speed Cameras (Download Now!)* and by selecting the appropriate Operating System.

I'd be amazed if the ability to switch off cameras was not available in the iOS version, but, as an Android user I can not say with certainty that it is.

What does the manual say?

there is a check box available but its ignore direction data.

i cant see a hide cameras behind me option..

not on ios anyway,.. its there on android hmm

its just massively annoying that you have loads of cameras showing anything up to 3 miles behind me and the only time a camera shows up in front is when the warning pops up (usually) or just over a 1000 yards irrespective of what warning data cones you have set

Is the ignore direction data ticked? If so un-tick it.

See Sect. 6 of Manual.

Warning is set by time, rather than distance, therefore as you go faster the warning distance is greater. Mobiles have a greater 'capturing' distance than fixed cameras.

Hiya. Thanks for replying. I think I'm not making myself very clear.

The warnings work fine. It's the actual display of cameras in list view.

I thought that CamerAlert displayed all cameras in a 360 degree. But only warned of cameras that were defined in the cone and direction settings

So basically I get cameras listed in list view up to 3 miles behind me but the only time a see a camera in front of me is about 1000 yards or so.

Surely it's should be displaying cameras in front of me in list view but only warn of them at my defied settings in the warning menu

You have done that quite well actually so there is no need to repeat it again. Just to re-iterate, you can see lots of cameras behind you but only those within about 1000 meters in front of you. This is probably because you do not have the 'Hide cameras behind me' option checked.

That's exactly how it should work unless you have ignore direction set and the 'Hide cameras behind me' option ticked

Correct again. Your problem seems to be that you can't find the control setting to 'Hide cameras behind me'?
Right then, I'm on Android, (not being a silly fanboy Very Happy ) but I can't imagine iOS is much different as it's an important setting. Can we analyse what you can and can't see please.
1. Can you get the Settings menu to show?
2. Assuming the answer to 1 is Yes; Can you see the Advanced selection option. It's the very bottom of the settings menu.
3. Can you see the 'Hide cameras behind me' check box? It's the 10th option down, immediately below the 'Ignore direction' check box.

Probably, but I can't remember why I wanted to edit it. Typo I expect. Anyway, thanks Anita.
I remember, it was the 'bot' in my first para should be 'but' and space after 'fanboy' would then display the emoicon.
What did you find wrong Anita?

The third quote didn't show correctly because you'd put [/quote] at the beginning.

I'm afraid I assumed that was what you wanted editing as it stuck out like a sore thumb so I didn't check for anything else! I'll do the other corrections now.

Right just had a look. There's no advanced settings on ios version.

There's only the ignore direction data and that's unchecked.

There's definitely something going on with the ios version as my android tablet displays as it should.

Then sorry, I can help no further. On Android, the Ignore direction data checkbox is in the Advanced settings as you know from your Android device.

Any other fanboys out there who can help?

Oh, and why have you answered my questions twice? Rolling Eyes

@Anita. I hadn't noticed that one. I was so incensed at not being able to correct my typos.
