I have bought a Kenwood DNX7150DAB

I would like to know how to load the speed camera database onto my Kenwood (It has a SD card)

I have registered subscription for 12 months
Cyclops™ Safety Cameras, U.K. and Ireland
Part Number: 010-11519-00
£19.99

But I have no idea where to start

I Downloaded the Pocket GPS Safety Camera Database
And the Garmin POILoader

I cant seem to be able to do this bit

B. Installing Pocket GPS Safety Camera Database - SD Card Models

Connect your card reader to the PC and insert the memory card.

If POILoader does not automatically start, run it now.
Select 'Garmin Device' from 'Save Options', Click Next.
Your card reader should now be listed as the device, Click Next.
Choose 'Install new custom POIs onto your device', Click Next.
Browse for the folder where you saved and extracted the POIs at 'A. Extracting the Database on the PC'. Follow the on screen instructions.
Browse for your POI folder and follow the on screen instructions.
NB: You MUST ensure you select Feet and mph if you are using

Please can someone guide me in the right direction as I have paid and cant get the thing started and with these average speed cameras everywhere now I have to get this working.

Thanks folks ;)

Just wondered why you have subscribed to Cyclops and PGPSW. I assume it's actually the PGPSW database that you are having the problem with?

Exactly at what stage do you encounter your first problem? (I have numbered your stages to make answering easier)
Are there any error messages? If so, what are they?
Have you successfully installed POI Loader?
Exactly which PGPSW database have you downloaded?
Have you unzipped the pgpsw download?

Hiya
Thanks for the prompt reply ;)

Thanks for numbering it all but to be honest Im not sure which part doesnt work or which part I havent done correctly.

I have no idea why I bought that one or which one I should of bought ?
and to be honest with you Im a bit confused with it all.

I thought it would be an easy job. All I want is the kenwood to tell me where the speed cameras and average speed cameras start and end at ;)

I have downloaded the zip files for the loader and the datasbase onto my SD card and unzipped them there (also did this exercise on my C:\ and then copied them onto the SD card too (And was hoping one of the installations would work)

Where am i spposed to load POI and the database ? On the SD card ?

Im pretty good with computers but this one has totally baffled me as I dont know if its something I need to do on the Kenwood ? Now evertyhing (Well something is on the SD card)

Also my model of kenwood doesnt appear on any pull downs yet as its quite new apparentley (well thats what I was told and they said it should work)

Is there a company or some one I can post my SD card and a USB with the downloads and install them ? Or is it an easy fix that I can do myself ?

Thanks for your time reading this and daling with someone whos a little frustrated at I cant get that beautiful kenwood unit to work properly with speed traps Smile

Regards

POILoader is Garmins tool for converting a CSV camera database into a single .GPI file that some Garmin based or compatible units use.

POILoader sits on your home PC.

What we need to know is what the Kenwood instructions say re loading cameras.

I have a dnx9280 so may be similar.

Download the csv files which will also come with the matching bmp images. You will also need the audio files. I use my own ones as I had to add .4seconds of silence to the beginning of each file as my kenwood seemed to always start playing from .4s onwards.

run POI Loader
choose your output folder to save the file

choose distance measurements. Feet/MPH

select the folder where you have the csv/bmp/wav files and proceed.

At the end it will have generated a file named Poi.gpi.

On your SD card, copy the gpi file to this location.
SDCARD: garmin/poi/

place the sdcard in your kenwood and it should detect the file and ask if you want to copy that to your system.
