Hi guys,

I've just purchased a new HP H1930 Pocket PC (as part of the Kirrio Sat Nav Solution) and was wondering if TomTom was compatible with it...?

I have used the bundled Mapsonic and it works perfectly but I would like to use TomTom for its ability to detect speed camers etc (with plugin software).

If TomTom doesn't work on my model iPaq then what is the reason, and will it support it in future?

Thanks for your advice.

I was originaly sold an IPAQ 1930 and TOMTOM 2 Bluetooth kit by PC World whose assistant told me that it was all compatible.

When I couldn't get it to work I contacted TOMTOM who advised me that the 1930 would only work with the wired GPS and not bluetooth.

Changed it for the 1940 and all's been fine for 6 months now, so the answer to your question appears to be yes with a wired GPS system

Hope this helps

Alan

Thanks I'll give it a try then! What is the best (and cheapest) plugin for TomTom that gives audio / visual warning that you are approaching a speed camera?

Hi tloram....

Have a butchers in the download section on this site....There you will find an add-on program for tom tom called Checkpoint. This can be used(with the correct poi's) to locate and alert you of speed cameras.

Hope this helps.

Steve.

As per above replies I use checkpoint with my Ipaq and it works well.

The problem of audible warnings is more to do with the volume of the Ipaq itself

I generally find this ok but have an FM modulator wired in that I can use if I need the system louder. The problem with this is that I get a lot of interference when TOMTOM isn't actually telling me anything so I only use this in large built up areas, eg Birmingham were there are lots of turns/ roundabouts etc and I really don't know where I am at all
