Hi all.

Wonder if someone could please share with me the optimum warning settings for CamerAlert.
I'm trying to move the "sliders" in the advanced settings menu to limit the amount of "False" alerts from cross roads and adjacent roads I travel on....

Direction Difference......
Warning cone......
Warning sensitivity......

Thanks in advance

Lee

I'm not an android user, so treat me with only a little attention!

There are NO optimum settings, because my optimum settings are NOT yours. The idea of providing adjustable settings is so that the user can determine his/her own preferences.

I suggest you read the manual which explains what the settings do, then fiddle with them to get your favourite results.

Be aware that you can setup to virtually eliminate EVERY false warning, but the result will be missing a lot of (adequate) true warnings.

How do you do that Dennis? Forget to restart it after it has timed out whilst stationary?

Whilst I'm an iOS user (like Dennis) I use CamerAlert on its default settings and ignore any false warnings.

I use the police siren as a forewarning to get my attention and then I listen to the spoken warnings because 9 times out of 10 CamerAlert will be running in the background with my SatNav app running in the foreground.

In the UK, the database is very good (it's been running for over 13 years and is updated on a daily basis with weekly releases). The warnings you get are highly likely to be correct but you can get get warnings for other road(s) that run parallel to the road that you're on and those roads may have a different speed limit. Having CamerAlert warn of only cameras in your direction helps. Otherwise just use the warning as a note to check your speed.

If you find that warnings are too much then you can obviously adjust them but then you run the risk that the settings for CamerAlert whilst driving in one area may be inappropriate for driving in another area.

Regards,

Simples - set those three things to almost (or actually) zero.

I knock each down by 5 from the default so, top to bottom: 40, 40, 45
