Anyone tried using the TomTom speed camera alerts recently? Based on limited experience so far, running CamerAlert in parallel, TomTom has cameras in the same places...

Edit..... TomTom has cameras in SOME OF the same places.

Did the TT app tell you what type they were, what speed they were set at, what audio warning did they give?

I know the speed and I get a warning and distance countdown. Also only warns for those actually on-route (so need to be following a route), but don't get alerts for cameras an adjacent/parallel roads that are close.

An optional feature is also visual speed warning along roads without speed cameras as maps seem to be encoded (accurately so far) for the speed limit of the road I'm on. So not camera alert, but useful for me to help stop me speeding/change habits.

For cameras, the key is the size and accuracy of their underlying database, hence my question :-)

Here's an interesting conversation from the TomTom Discussions forum concerning updating their camera database...
