|
|
My Go 930 is refusing to connect to my Windows 8.1 desktop or laptop, or my Windows 7 netbook. All has been fine previously.
The computers recognise that the 930 has been attached by USB and ask if I want to connect to the computer. I tap Yes and the 930's screen shows the TomTom logo then a white screen with a pale green insert with an image of the satnav on it.
A window showing 'The last USB malfunctioned and Windows did not recognise it' then pops up. Device Manager shows 'Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)'. A Device Setup window pops up to find files and reports success in installing 'Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)'! Within Device Manager the device status shows 'Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (code 43). A request for the USB device descriptor failed'.
The problem has survived several resets and a factory reset.
The only change to the Windows 8.1 machines has been the installation and then uninstallation of the TomTom software for a Go 60 which I was going to buy until I discovered that I couldn't install third party speed cameras on it.
Can anyone diagnose what has gone wrong and, hopefully, offer a solution? _________________ Frank |

I am no expert
But, my first impression going by what you've said is a USB problem on your PC / Laptop, Maybe a drivers update needed
Can you connect other USB devices ok / successfully ?? |

Thanks but it has to be the 930. All other USB devices work fine and the 930 fails on three different computers using four different leads. _________________ Frank |

So.....it IS the device itself then. A dodgy USB socket connection internally I guess |
