All,

I didnt use my pda for aproxx. one week and when i next switched it on the system had hard reset itself to the factory settings. tomtom had to be reinstalled. I was worried because you can only activate i thought every six months but it worked fine.

My question is this, is it normal practice for the pda to reset like that? and if it happens again maybe I wont be able to reactivate my software??

Thanks

Yes this is normal practice, most PDA batteries will last for about a week, it really depends on how many times you recharge the PDA and for how long.

Activations shouldn't be a problem providing you use the same PC and Pocket PC. Your better bet would be to purchase Pocket Backup which will allow you to restore the Pocket PC from a storage card quite quickly and not have to re-activate the software or go through a lengthy install process when your battery runs down.

If you use the restore feature in activesync does this not bring everything back including TT?

[cough splutter, Dave muttering to himself]

According to Microsoft, yes it should. I've always had major issues with this like many other seasoned PPC users, so using something like Sprite Backup is much more reliable. Many people have tried to restore when getting their PPC back from repair, or from a dead battery only to find they can't restore it using ActiveSync.
