Is it better to have your maps on the internal memory or SD card. My Via 135 has 8GB internal, if moved the maps to a Class 10 micro SD would I notice any diffenece?

I'd think, if anything, responsiveness of map reads/writes would be somewhat faster with a class 10 sdhc card than using the internal memory.

Why do you say that? Is the memory clock of the SD card faster than the internal memory clock then?
Having a faster capable card, clocked at the same speed as a slower card, there will be no difference in access time (providing that the slower card works at the used clock speed).
The higher spec card will work faster provided the access clock speed is increased.

Valid points but why do class 4 cards often fail when used in TomTom devices?

Hmm, so there's no real advantage in putting a micro SD card in it then?

The premise of your original question is false; with MyDriveConnect you don't get to choose where your map is stored or have any ability to move a map from Internal to microSD storage. The value of external storage is to allow larger or more maps to be installed than the Internal storage can accommodate, a boon with the size inflation we are now seeing in newer maps.
