UPDATED: The UK's busiest speed camera, on the M60 at junction 25 in Greater Manchester, has recorded more than 9000 offences.
A total of 9,326 offences were registered by the fixed speed camera on the stretch of motorway leading to £189,000 in fines.
Coming in at second place is a camera on the A13 westbound Thames Gateway to Scratton Terrace in London with 8,002 offences issued.
In at third is one on the M54 between J1 and J3 in Staffordshire registering 7,403 offences and 4th place goes to the camera on the A34 Wytham in the Thames Valley with 7138.
Almost 400,000 fixed penalty notices for speeding were handed out nationwide last year alongside 73,944 court summons. The resulting fines paid by motorists was £22million. The figure did not include drivers who attended a speed awareness course to avoid receiving points on their licence or paying a fine.
It was reported by the Daily Express that 58 per cent of motorists said they were caught by fixed speed cameras, 28 per cent by roadside police with a camera and 12 per cent of police without a camera.
15 per cent of drivers were thought to be caught out due to recent changes to speed limits in their areas.

I don't know if that article has been amended since you posted this, but it currently has the M60 camera as the top camera. And that's not one camera, it's a 50 mph SPECS stretch.
The original LV article doesn't mention the A1 camera either. |

Quote: | Many of these drivers believe that the location of this speed camera is unfair as the speed limit has recently changed at that location (21 per cent) or that the speed limit changes too abruptly' (18 per cent). | Since when have speed limits not changed abruptly? |
