The , paid for, dash cam option seems to work well on my HTC One, but as I haven't noticed any comments I assume those that have it are happy ?
Because of the angle I have my phone set to, the dash cam picks up everything to the nearside , and including , the centre white line on the road. I imagine if I switched the phone to Horizontal it would probably pick up the whole road in front., but my current holder won't allow me to do that and anyhow I've always been vertical.

It took a little getting used to but the new UI is great. I'd recommend persevering with the layout. Great to see the searching for imported POI's bug has been fixed. Just one dislike in that the direction of destination arrow has been removed. Have asked Sygic for it to be put back.

Their new map-centric (whatever that means) shows the map, but precious little else. And WTF is the big white search bar all about? If I am searching for something, I don't give a toss about the map until I've found what I want, so why clutter up the map with a search bar?

It's a bit fiddly. Menu ~ Navigate to ~ Home ~ Set (bottom right) Gives the options: Current position, Select from map, Address etc. If you Select from map etc, click Done. That sets the home address location.

Fiddly I could cope with, can't find it at all now in the latest downdate Smile

Well, I for one am still struggling, although I accept that it's probably me. I've used Sygic since just about day one and got used to the odd peculiarities.
However, if this latest version is supposed to be a whole lot easier to use, then I am more confused than ever, in my opinion it is nowhere near as 'easy' as the last version. I've sorted out my home address afterm many attempts and accidental deletions etc, but they certainly don't make it easy.
Now I have a problem with my contacts....slow to start loading and then just keeps stopping, so I've now given up on that one.
Any thoughts, (and I'm still running my HTC One with CoPilot as well fortunately) ?

To quote that well known strictly judge. "It's a disaster dahling".
Really glad I didn't update on my phone.

Just had an email from Sygic. The old android version can be downloaded from
https://www.dropbox.com/s/i267in1yd7n255c/SygicNavi-release.apk?dl=0
and a new manual at

I was too trusting and have just installed this latest version to both my Nexus 7 and SGS4. To date I have only played with the Nexus 7 but from what I have seen so far, I have to agree with much of what Rick-uk says.
It is fiddly throughout and on occasion it won't even load beyond the red Sygic logo on the white background. When it does this it also seems to be able to trip my internet connection to "on" for some reason, which is a fault that I suffered for some time with the earlier version. The only way out then is to wait for the programme to say that it is not responding, exit the application, turn off the internet connection and reload the map, at which point it will run. It's a time waster regrettably.

if you running on android device why import the PGPSW database?

Just use the CamerAlert app and have it run in background you'll then get nice big warning on screen and voice alert if over-limit when approaching camera

also have they sorted out text input yet on the app?

ie enter a search term but press backspace to make changes it previously couldn't cope and you had to fully re-enter anything

It appears to eat data as well now

That 22MB was used when I started the app and searched for an imported POI by entering its unique refernce number. I didn't even use it for navigation or traffic. I guess it searches online at the same time as it searches locally.

I tried it again at home later just searching for a POI and browsing the map screens.

At this rate of data use I will have to uninstall as I can not afford for it to use that amount

Go back to the old version that I posted the link to above.
It shouldn't eat that much data. I'll try out my latest version that I have on my Nexus 10 and see if that does it. It never used to eat data, in fact, pretty much none unless you have traffic, and then not much at all.

Overnight without it running it added another 30mb. I have had to force close it.

I could not install the previous version as it continually failed while downloading resources so I ended up doing a clean install of the new version.

After my earlier comments on the problems of opening up the app, I followed the instructions on the Sygic website and did a complete uninstall including the Sygic file folder.
The reinstall seems to have proved successful with the app opening properly and the file folder being half the size in Mb's, so presumably the old folder had a mix of updates that was causing the problems.
Just got to get to grips with the new way of using it for route planning when the need arises.

Are you talking about reinstalling the old version John?
I tried my new version and did some searching and its data usage went up from 9.5Mb to 9.6Mb. Whilst this is not excessive, I would still like to know what it is doing.

Have you tried contacting Sygic about your problem Rick? Still, I suppose that they would reply with a non-answer.
Here's Sygic's take on it Here with a contact form

........

No, I uninstalled the latest version app, used HD File Manager to delete the Sygic folder and then downloaded direct from PlayStore again and as I say, so far it seems okay.
I hadn't considered any excess data usage as I don't have live traffic on it, so as an offline navigation system I can't really see why it should consume any additional data.
