So, the HD maps have been released. Generally speaking, whatever you order will be supplied as HD as they can run on both models...no price increase either.
However, to 'upgrade' is a bit of a disappointment for me....send your old one/s back and get 20% off the same map in return.

Yeah - aint no way i'm paying for the same maps (at 20% less) so they look just a bit clearer... they look good now - never got lost yet because of the dpi...

I feel sorry for SatMap, they must be between a rock and a hard place at the moment. They are a great company with a great product and with great customer care but there is nowhere for them to go apart from adding yellow/orange buttons and Bluetooth. (I'm not counting HD because some of my walking is in rain when I already have rain in my eyes and on the screen!)

I prefer taking my Tablet with me, loaded with various apps makes it so much more user friendly than my A10 (and any other dedicated hand held GPS I would imagine). Bigger screen, tethering to my SmartPhone truely makes it active, choice of maps (all free and latest editions), easy import/export (I so dislike Xpedition) and more.

I assume a Nexus 7"....one of my walking colleagues has just completed the C toC with one , but he still found it a 'bit uncomfortable', bouncing around, but he thought the Anquet mapping was pretty good. I can't remember now, but I think he said the downside was the map didn't move ?

Yes, I use either a 5" phone or the Nexus 7. I have long been a fan of OSM maps and using OsmAnd+ (see signature) its my app/SatNav of choice especially as the country maps are downloaded and stored on the sd card . I'll often run other apps at the same time for GoogleMAps /Ordnance Survey/ICC integration but they need a data connection.

No problems with location/maps remaining static.

However, It doesn't stop me looking out for a 1:50k SatMAp of GB going cheap on eBAy.

@LostMike.
Call me old fashioned but its in a plastic Map Case. One side is the Tablet, the other side is the paper map of the area. I still prefer to navigate by map and compass so I tend to use the Tab/Phone/SatMAp for data logging and "making sure" in areas of uncertainty.
