Free Life Time Maps Registration.

Not been on here for a number of years, I've been running a TomTom Go500 daily for 7.5 years, no problems other then a change of battery. It finally gave up the will to turn on on Friday morning and I had to grab a replacement from Halfords. A Via 130 on their £99.99 deal with free lifetime maps.

The unit works perfectly, I've registered the unit with TomTom and done the updates and I've even managed to add the Pocket GPS Camera files and my own POI files.

However, when I came to register for the Free lifetime Maps offer, the system simple does not work!

You enter your details in the correct boxes even attach a .JPG of Halfords receipt. You attempt to click on the submit button and nothing, the page fails to do anything. I checked out the TomTom forum and there is the same problem thread already started this week. I chimed in and got the same almost automated reply. Call customer services and gave their 0845 number. I've checked back in to that thread a number of times and low and behold others are now reporting the same error.

The question is, is this another one of TomTom's customer service cock up's and is there a way around other then waiting on the end of a phone for the run around?

Make sure your browser has Javascript enabled.

Javascript capability should normally be inherent to your browser and with no need to download Java. Test here for whether it is enabled: http://www.isjavascriptenabled.com/

I was sure that it was enabled and working before my first post?

I ended up emailing customer support, they took 24hrs to reply and I've now sent them the serial number and .jpg of the bill via logging into my account on MyTomTom. Just waiting for the reply.

Others have gone back to Halfords and Halfords have registered their Promo for them. Rolling Eyes

Strange and miraculous as it may seem (for tomtom) worked first time for me. First time anything has mind. Laughing
