Hi,

I started using TomTom on my PDA around 10 years ago. My 1st PDA, GPS receiver and TTN software cost over £600.

The PDA got slow, and I upgraded. Eventually I got a HTC smartphone and used TTN on there. I loved it - one less gadget to carry around.

That was on Windows Mobile 6.5 and TTN 7.9.

When Windows Mobile 7 appeared and stopped supporting TTN, I was gutted. I continued to use my old smartphone (only for TTN) - but it is getting slow now hence, time for a new device.

Over time, I have built up my own POI file so I favoured staying with TomTom but recently found out that I cannot transfer my POI/OV2 files from my TTN, to the newer TomTom stand alone devices (TT customer services recommended the TT 825 I think). This is a strange decision from TT.

Anyway, I have started looking at alternatives as follows :-

1) I like Waze. I like the real-time aspect in Waze, but don’t see how – I maybe wrong - to transfer my TTN POI file across.

2) Another option is to buy a iPhone - maybe the 4S - and use the app there. However, does anyone know if I can transfer my TTN POI file across?

3) Another option - similar to above - is to go the andriod route. I have been recommended the Google LG phone. Again, buy and use the TomTom app. Same question - does anyone know if I can transfer my TTN POI file across?

My POI file has been built up over the last 10 years. I really don't want to lose it.

Also, I am about to upgrade my smartphone so, if I can use my POI in the smartphone apps, then that will sway my decision to either go down option (2) or (3). I currently subscribe to the PGPS SpeedCam database so will also need to figure out how to add these into the new smartphone. (I currently use a HTC Windows 7.5 phone.)

4) Further afield, is there any way to convert my POI into another format? Garmin seems to be well liked - can I transfer my POI file from TomTom into the Garmin format and load it into a dedicated unit? If so, which Garmin unit do people recommend?

Sorry for the long post, Thanks in anticipation and Thx for reading
