Hi all, I was just wondering if there is a cable that I can use to connect my gps to the computer and use it whilst connected. At the moment I am using the usb that came with it but if the satnav is on and I plug it in, it shuts off and goes in charging mode. Is there any way around it?
thanks |

It's actually in 'connected to PC mode' though it charges at the same time. If you want to use it while it's charging then you'll need to buy an AC charger for it. |

oh ok I see, I didn't know that. Are the power cables all standard for satnav or is there a special one (like a specific voltage etc) I need to buy?
thanks |

If it uses a standard mini or micro USB connection, then any charger with that plug will provide the correct voltage and will work safely.
The only difference will be that some are able to supply more current (in Amps) than others, so will charge the battery quicker. Look for 1 to 2 amps capability.
Any dedicated USB charger will probably be quicker to charge the unit than a computer USB port though, as they are current-limited to 1/2 an Amp _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |
