satmap maps

Hi, I am new in GPS country. Bought a satmap 10. Got a Dutch card with it.(I am Dutch ) I am going to lake district next week and wonder if I could use the satmap without buying the expensive lake district SD card for it, as I will go somewhere else during summer time. Can I download walks from the internet and use them with SATMAP?

You can certainly download gpx routes to your Satmap and use them, no maps necessary to do that. Unsure whether OSM maps can be used on satmaps, certainly very good ones for Garmins at www.talkytoaster.co.uk, there may be something similar for satmaps.

As far as I am aware, the only maps that you can install are those purchased from SatMap.

They do sell a cheaper version of map - Great Britain (North) 1:25k OpenCycleMap at 50GBP which should do what you need even if you are not cycling.

If you are happy walking with maps at 1:50 the National Parks - Complete Collection 1:50k at 28GBP (special offer) should suffice.

EDIT - P.S. Any chance you also have an Android SmartPhone?
