Can't be sure that maps load

Hi. I use Garmin because, ostensibly, it supports the Mac. However, when I try to load maps, POIs, voices etc. with Garmin POI loader, I can't be sure that they have gone onto my satnav. There is no progress bar and no indication that the process has started or when it has finished, if indeed it actually did start. When I check the satnav, I can find none of the voices I hoped had downloaded and, of course, can't check the maps and POIs for accuracy in the home. Even if I take it out in the car, there is still no way I can be sure that anything has loaded.

Can anyone give me a clue as to how I can tell if I have successfully loaded anything?
