Hi All,

I think I may be doing something silly as my TT1005 World has just been connected to my PC and says there are new maps available to download, except they won't as there is not enough space it says! So I put a 4GB card in, and it still says there is not enough space! How can I get rid of the original maps to get the new ones?

Any advice gratefully received,

SDM197.

When you put the 4GB micro card into the device, did the unit offer to format it? It needs to for MyTomTom to recognize it.

Something's badly wrong then.

Did you notice the map size mentioned when you tried to do the download?

TT have been having a few problems (to put it mildly) with map updates on the MyTomTom models. For example some VIA owners have been finding the new map does not remove the old one, so until TT get it sorted, the only way is to install the new one to an SD card and leave the old one on the internal memory.

But your problem is greater than that. No map is larger than 4GB yet, so there must be another reason.

I think you need to contact TT's customer services 2nd line techs for this one.

What do you see in "Manage content" in MyTomTom browser page.
Are the two memory sizes being shown to you as barcharts?

Hi,

the bar graphs show the internal memory almost full and the Micro SD empty.

I will have to call TT I think,

FWIW, I just upgraded my 740 to an 8Gb card as the 2Gb EU and the 2Gb USA and the OS itself don't seem to fit on a 4Gb card. Both fit nicely on 8Gb.

One thing to be aware of - removing a map and then restoring it after loses all your favourites. How stupid is that? I found out when I allowed Home to move the EU to my computer to make space for the USA. When I then moved the USA to the computer and the EU back, it was all afresh. Fortunately I was able to just restore the original SD card content (and I have two anyway so I can restore quickly in case of problem).

Anyway, if you want the world, I think 8Gb minimum. I went with a class 6 card this time too, for a little extra speed.

Makes sense.... Laughing

Shouldn't do... The Favourites are stored in the map folder.
But then I can't remember the last time I used Home to move a map from one place to another.
It's usually quicker and easier to just move map folders around using Windows Explorer, no need to get Home involved. Smile

Now I have them installed, I will indeed do that. But I needed to get it there in the first place, and Home wanted to remove stuff before I could download, IIRC.
