for those thinking of switch to winphone 8

Just quick heads up for those thinking of switching to a windows 8 phone and hoping to use it as satnav as well. make sure you go for the Nokia versions as the htc only have bing maps or gps navigation, why does this matter, well if you were an htc or Samsung winphone7 user then you would have had the choice of htc location (basicly route66) or navigon . At the moment navigon does not appear to be available which is a bit of a kick below ad winphone7 apps are supposed to be backwards compatible. Also for the moment there's no video calling apps ie tangobor skype available to download this could be a network thing. Or a uk marketplace restriction

other than that the htc8x is a cracking phone

And what a difference a week makes as of yesterday afternoon navigon Europe went live. As id already bought it it was a no cost redownload just have to download the maps at weekend went get home. A preveiw of skype was released and works very well on video calls. Navigon usa was also released late last week for windows phone 8

after having the phone for just over a week now i can say its a joy to use the battery life is much better than on previous windows phones and is on par with my iphone 4s
