map weirdness

i have cameralert setup on my htc sensation xe running ics , it is fine most of the time , but sometimes the maps go blank or bits of the maps go blank , tried the same area using google mapping and it is fine .....

The Google Maps (and Navigation) applications no longer use the same data source as the Google Maps API that we are forced to use. They are also able to cache some of the data (which is explicitly forbidden for us).

So - most likely you had a poor data connection which resulted in some of the map tiles not being fetched.
