I have noticed the the connect.nissan.eu link displayed on the satnav now takes you to a place to download official updates. These overwrite the internal POIWarnings. The file you download is a '.ntq' file. It also asks for the device ID so I suspect the contents must be encrypted or keyed so they can only be used on that devices.

It looks really expensive, so I would prefer to use the PocketGPS files. They are also updated more frequently.

So, does anyone know about the .ntq file format and can we convert the .csv file. This would then give us one set of warnings without the outdated ones.

Any ideas ?

I've just found this on NavTeq as well, and your post on here. I'm not so interested in combining the file, what I would like to be able to do is simply wipe the built in database from the connect, so that the PocketGPS is the only one in there - that would do the job nicely. I almost wonder whether trying to load an empty file called x:\myPOIs\myPOIWarnings\warnPOI.ntq would do the job.

First post on here and new to Nissan Connect.

Is it being said here that using Pocket GPS camera warnings do not overwrite what is already in the connect system, so all old stuff keeps coming up?

And does using these warning files also overwrite the other non camera POI's that are in the Connect.

I know that Pocket GPS do their own non camera POI's, but with the special detailed information for loading camera POI's are there any special instructions somewhere on here for loading non camera PGPS POI's to the connect system?

Hi

You are correct in that you get the built in warnings plus the PocketGPS warnings, so if the same warning is in both files, you will get two alerts for the same camera. I find it extremely annoying, and I know others do as well.

You presumably have a usb stick with folders in the format of x:\myPOIs\myPOIWarnings\

Any csv file in the correct format in the myPOIWarnings folder will appear as a warning, any files in the myPOIs folder will be POIs, it's pretty much as simple as that. The built in POIs aren't overwritten by this file.

I don't tend to use the POIs, and I'm finding that switching off POI warnings from my Connect, and just using my phone with audible warnings is much more useful as a) they are up to date, and b) they are directional and can be fine tuned for sensitivity.

Hi, thanks not yet invested in the camera warnings here, in reading I wanted to know if this was an overwrite or just added, seems to be a mess.

Have not discovered how to turn POI warnings off, how do you do that.

Wonder if the Nissan updates for camera warnings leaves the old ones on or wipes clean.

99.9% sure that the Nissan (Navteq) updates overwrite the built-in updates, but they are about £30 per update (they are either quarterly or monthly updates, can't remember which) so they are expensive and almost certainly out of date as soon as you buy it (especially if you drive around the north section of the M25 where the SPECS cameras are moved quite frequently) - I would only suggest buying an upgrade once if you are going to travel to France as the latest upgrade should wipe out the French cameras to comply with the latest law there.

The option to disable the POI warnings is buried in the menu somewhere - should be in the manual, but I'll find it tonight when I go back to my car.

OK, got it now.
1. Press setup button
2. Tap on 'Navigation' option
3. Scroll down (using right hand button) to 'POI Setup' and press button/tap on screen
4. Scroll down to POI Warning - pressing right hand button toggles between on/off.

If you have it switch on, the option below is 'POI Warning distance' - sensible distance is 250 yards.
