We all know how hard it can be in the garden. And when it comes to preparing the soil for planting, the effort required at my age makes it a real chore.
So here's my top tip for getting the hard work out of preparing the soil.....
First, get a few kids together and tell them there's a Treasure Map buried somewhere.
Second, equip them with a trowel each and watch the soil get turned over really well. (The white thing is an empty tube like the one the map is buried inside).

And the April Fool's joke was that there isn't one? _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

No joke. Truly there is a map, drawn by/for a grandson who buried his treasure in another part of the garden - he dug a hole over a foot deep and dropped a 2p piece in. Then we drew the map and buried it in a completely different part of the garden.
By coincidence, MaFt, Mini-MaFt, Mrs MaFt and Mini-MrsMaFt called and some of them needed a bit of distraction to break their journey, so they did treasure map hunt because we didn't have an Easter Egg hunt set up. Worked out fine for all concerned - they had a bit of fun and I got my broad bean plot prepared for planting. The only tiny deception was to get them trowelling in every part except the actual position - grandson will surely want to check up on it so I couldn't allow it to be discovered. And they got a 2p piece each as a reward anyway. _________________ Dennis

Yup, it was 6p....then they went in to polish the brass, and clear the ashes from the grate. _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

I couldn't be sure it would be you specifically, but I knew somebody would. So I deliberately let you have the chance, by omitting to say that we also gave them 4 quid each for icecreams in Torquay.
Anyway, remember, they're aaaaard, from oooop north and so for them, 2p is a fortune. _________________ Dennis

We forgot to send you a photo of the ice creams...! Needless to say the kids reminded us the 1st 2 days that they had to get an ice cream!
