The 65 in *65*1 looks like directional information but is 180 degrees opposed to the way that PGPSW show the direction info. So for the first camera in your list PGPSW have a heading of 239 (180 degrees opposed to 65 would be 245, which is near enough to make no difference).
I can't work out what the 1 or 0 on the end indicates. Perhaps a trial using your sat nav past two cameras, one with a 1 and another with a 0 would show you the difference? _________________ Paul

I agree with the heading idea. The Rotherhyth tunnel one is on the exit of the tunnel southbound and its heading is actually 231. I suspect the last digit is whether its a one way or bi directional cam, but can't really substantiate this.
It appeard from stree view that we have the Victoria Street one around the wrong way as well. (ID 2942) Should be 250 deg Its a Watchman type which surely is a 'when you have pased it' type cam?
The Broadoak Road one (first in list) can also be seen in SV pointing south(ish) Well 243.35 actually, which close enough for government work to 239 that we have.
As to the * and , I'm confused. CSV is the acronym for Comma Separated Values, so I don't know where the * comes in to it.
Well there's no harm in asking ( not even a year for pointing you in the right direction
Anyway.
As to the direction, checking the first of the last two numbers on OsCompass.com with several locations from the RAC200 csv files and showing compass, it appears that this is the angle that the Camera is pointing, not the direction of traffic flow.
What started all this off was coming from flint to Manchester on the A494 i get an over-speed warning of 40mph, when it's a dual carriage way, looking either side there are no apparent roads running parallel, so i thought it was possible from a previous roadworks and well out of date. This lead to two different maps being shown in StreetMap, if you go to (http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=335397&y=371707&z=0&sv=53.238444,-2.969417&st=7&mapp=map.srf&searchp=ids.srf) and select the second zoom level from the bottom it shows the A5117 and the A494 running next to each other, now if you select the very bottom zoom level it show just the A5117 with no A494 in sight ( an out of date map), this location is show in the RAC200 csv file as
-2.969417,53.238444,"A511",265,0
which had me totally confused because i was searching the csv for A494. On my road atlas and google maps there is no road marked as A5117 next to the A494. so i went through the csv co-ordinates till i came to one sitting on the A494 and found that RAC had given the wrong road name, by missing off the 7.
Do your safety camera poi's give direction as well in the csv files you provide, i assume from what's been said above you supply the angles as direction of travel and not direction the camera is pointing.
Can anybody confirm that the 1/0 is bi/single directional and what the * represents and why all the * separated fields are replicated in the bottom half of the file as comma separated.
Many thanks
ps, just noticed something interesting, because it looks like the top half of the file uses * and the bottom is copied but using commas, i thought, wrongly that the bottom was an exact copy of the top. BUT looking at the A494 location shown above does not contain *, it was a copy and paste from the original, so i looked for the * version,,,,, there isn't one!!!
so possible they have been changed to * by a previous free update to invalidate these fields, rather than just overwrite the whole original file.
I could be wrong
pps, the A494 data is taken from a different file than that posted in my first post.

If the warning system is directional, i.e. warns only if you are travelling in the direction in which you will be caught and using the data in your file, then this would be about as good as a chocolate teapot.

We don't have a camera anywhere near this

Only some of them as a number as in your file. Notably the ones for iGO or MioMapCE do. They give the direction of travel to get caught and whether the cam is one way or reversible. The direction in which the cam 'points' depends on the type of cam. The direcvtion you will be caught in remains constant (unless it's reversible)

1/0. Not without quite a bit more investigating. Can you plot a simulated route past some of some known ones to find out. They may have one way cams flagged as two way and vice versa so it won't be easy to find out. As for the *s and repeated comma data, I havnt a clue. Try removing one set and see if the alerts still work.

Presumably by 'overspeed' you mean a cam alert rather than exceding the local speed limit?

I noticed that too.
Just checked all yours against our map. The hdg figure is from our db, and checked against streetview. One way unless specified reversible

-2.969417,53.238444,"A511",265,0 Nothing there
So there seems to be no obvious tie up between the 1/0 and cam direction.
All the cams in your list are 'get you from behind' (Street view, but couldn't check the one in the tunnel) so the headings in your list are, as you discovered, mainly 180 degrees out compared with ours, with a couple of exceptions and these are not two way cams
The locations i gave in the original post were all from the RAC200
Speed limit, speed 20.csv
file, so they should all be 20mph, i chose that file because it was the smallest in content.
Below is a small sample from the
Speed limit, speed 40.csv
file.

Well there you go then, as some of the cams in your first lot were not 20MPH cams
The ones with zeros in above are in gardens and fields etc. The ones with a heading are about 180 degrees out and they are all one way in our database.

I took the A406 group and imported them into MapPoint.
The Pushpins ended up near Havering, nowhere near the A406 ! _________________ Satnav:

EARTHQUAKE!!!!!!! Sub Plate movement shifted the cameras,,,,
Explains everything :o)
Now you know why you have to wait so long for a RAC recovery man, shortest I've waited is 3 hours, longest,,,, well.
Well yesterday was a trip from Manchester to Prestatyn.
Now (please) don't shout at me :o(
I got some free speed camera files from xxxxxxx just to play with till i know what i need (and they are just to play with). At the moment subscription is out of reach :o( unless you do a short term option :o). That's why I'm trying to use what already works instead of buying a new one.
I used the original RAC200 file names and replaced the original contents with the files from above. I read somewhere the names are hard coded into the software, so to make the first test easier i used the original RAC file names. next test will be an extra none standard name to see what happens.
I didn't get any bus lane or section control files, in the RAC they have seperate 'section control' and 'end section control' files. They had 'section cameras' but no 'end' files.
On the section control do you provide start and end as separate files or are they combined?
With regards the Bus lane control, i edited the originals and removed all lines that had a *. No bus control lanes on route
I borrowed an updated GPSRider to compare.
Starting from Alexander Park on Princess road in Manchester, it warned me about all the cameras on route, both sides of the road, did it's distance count down, and they all lined up with me on the screen, i couldn't deliberately go over-speed just to check the constant over-speed warning when approaching a camera because of traffic flow, which was an advantage because i could watch more of what was happening.
There and back it spotted all the cameras, on one occasion two next to each other, showing the problem with free files ( they were just to play with and understand how things work ) Also it showed the ghost camera on the A5117 on the way there but didn't sound an alarm, it was ghostly on the other side of the road. On the way back i had the nav on satellite info ready to capture the gps location but it didn't give any warning/alarm, i'm not sure if the alarms are disables in sat view.
I'm wondering if i need directional camera alerts, are current sat navs directional, you say you only provide direction in the mio files, I've read somewhere that the mio poi's use less precision than others, is that true.
Also had a thought, could the 1 and 0 represent this side of the road or the other.
How do the mobile camera poi's work, do they have a start and end location or just a start location with distance. Will try them on the RAC.
I'm hoping all this will be useful for others.
I'll go measure some angles for my next trip to Prestatyn and let you know

It's not the database that's directional, it's the device. PGPSW provide the directional info in some downloads for the device to interpret. Are we talking about the PGPSW camera database here. If so, the locations for mio are exactly the same as for other cams from here. It's the same database, just a different output format.

Think about what you have said for a while

They all work the same way. The location of the camera is in the database, warnings and 'count down' etc is done by the satnav device.

I hope that you are not talking about a pirated copy of the PGPSW database here. Subscriprion gets totally out of reach for the person who lets our database escape to be downloaded illegaly because the get a lifetime ban. If so, i'm sure tha 'management' would be interested in from where you got them. From download page:
Database Piracy
We will award One Free Month's subscription to the first person who reports a website offering our database where we are subsequently able to identify the originator.
Do you really think i'd use a pirated database from here and then ask for help and advice. a short subscription and one for helping you notice an error in your own database ---- Nope i think NOT.
It was a free selection from POIPlaza.com, i put the xxxxx's so others not in the know wouldn't go there instead of here. Once you see where they were from please delete and replace with the xxxxx's
And it's quite clear that they are not up to date, some being dated as 2009, don't include camera direction and other bits missing, like less than 12 entries for bus lanes, and no road descriptions
Just because a handful of camera sites were correct doe's not indicate a copy or piracy.
It's also quite clear from around the web that this is the place to be :o)
I got them because they were there and i was going out the next day, I have to live two weeks on one years sub and It was quite clear from people who are helping here that the RAC one's were taken from a lucky bag and randomly placed in various files.
If you want what i found to check, give me an email and i'll send them but there not what you think. There out of date and just used at short notice.
Such an accusation should be merited with a weeks sub :o)
