Any one had any Map Share Updates for the latest map?
Or, come to think of it, the last one?
Title Edited after TomToms initial response.... PaulB2005

I have just done a check and downloaded 87 Mapshare updates over wifi. It's set to download automatically but I've only ever seen it do that once a very long time ago |

Hmm. So these were today? How often would you say you got any? I can't remember any so far for this map or the last.
Haven't checked today though... |

I have only noticed an automatic download kick in once, and only download the mapshare updates when I remember which isnt very often.
Have uploaded a screenshot of updating this morning just to prove it works!

AS with dorsetwurzel mine is also set to download automatically - but I always check manually and do it that way for the same reason as he does. |

Here is TomToms response
Quote: | Latest application which your are using needs you to login on facebook and tweeter which will provide you with map share updates.
If you are not logged into facebook or tweeter you would not be able to get the map share updates on your iPhone |
I'll check and respond later.
I assume all those that can get Map Updates are logged in to FaceBook??
Can't see anywhere in the app to log in toTwEEter ( ). Assume this means you have to do so in the iPhone itself??? |

I have NEVER had to log in to do any of the mapshare updates!! I open the app (TT 1.10 Western Europe) via CamerAlert, click "Change Settings", "Map", "Map Share Update" and then "Check for New Corrections" |

And so it gets more silly....
They now say i don't need to be logged into Facebook or Twitter but i do need to allow Information Sharing. It's already switched on and so is Map Share. Further to that the information about Information Sharing says
Quote: | If you do not allow sharing of information, you will not be able to UPLOAD map corrections and error reports. However you will still be able to RECEIVE Map Share corrections FROM TomTom. |
So even if Information Sharing WAS off (it's not) I should be able to RECEIVE Map Share updates. I just wouldn't be able to send them..... |

That is daft, PaulB!! I have just a few minutes ago checked mine for mapshare updates - and have been offered and downloaded 59! I guess rebooting your iPhone makes no difference?? |

It was exactly this type of clueless support that saw me move from Garmin to TT in the first place
I don't mind instructions that don't work as long as they are constructive but this "pull an answer out of your hat" type support really annoys me. I thought I was in trouble when I got the Facebook answer.
Still waiting for a reply....... |

Another response. Basically a Cut and Paste from the website of what MapShare is and isn't. |

Well in a twist my mobile contract is up in two weeks so went to see what's on offer. Came home with a new iPhone 4S, restored everything to it, fired up TomTom and it offered 90 (or 900 - can't remember, but sure it was 900 but seems a lot) MapShare updates straight away.
Went through all the settings 15+ times before but nothing wrong. Nothing different now either. Maybe deleting the app and reinstalling WOULD have worked but didn't get to try. |

I always get MapShare updates on a daily basis on both my iPhone and iPad from the Tomtom app, i'd expect it to have been a small error on your end!
