mount is great for sticking to windscreen - just cant seem to get the articulations tight enough. As for alternative mounts - I'm thinking of trying some sticky back velcro - jaggy side on bottom of tom tom, fluffy side stuck on dash somewhere.....
thx on alternative route thing- still seems to do dodgy routes tho...
bummer about poi stuff.. |

i notice on the tomtom when u plug in with usb that there is a poi.dat file
are these custom or std format. i.e. cant i just get another poi.dat file with more poi's in it....or is that really being too simplistic. methinks it is |

Too get the holder tight so it doesn't move, you need to twist both knobs at the same time. If you only do one, the thread insde the holder will twist and you get no where.
The reason I know this is that one of the knobs has fallen of my holder and I've had the thing apart and given it a good look. I have to use a screw driver now to to tighten the unit. I've checked with TomTom and I have to send the holder back before they will send me a new one which is a bit inconvenient so I may just leave it. |

Did you consider mounting it on a side window?
I have done this on many occasions to good effect. Mind you I do have air conditioning and never open my side windows... _________________ Mike Barrett |

Have a look at the last photo on previous post, i deliberately put a thumb print on the GO screen, just to give an idea of how defined they can look on the screen. |

Oz, any reason why you didn't use the original suction mount to stick to the base plate ? |
