Google have started charging for use of their API.
There's a bit of chat about it in a previous topic:
Google API charging
Looks like the man behind POIEdit doesn't want to pay for it.
He's quite hard to get hold of too, there's no contact details on the website and the main site was last updated over 2 years ago.
But if you want to ask what's going on, I have spoken to him before on mrdnote@gmail.com _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Depends what you want to do....
Tyre (http://www.janboersma.nl/gett/index.php) is very good for creating routes and can also show POI on a Google map.
I've never QUITE got the hang of it though, and AFAIK it can't do some of the things I use POIEdit for, such as merging several POI files together. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

I've just remembered there *is* a way round it in POIEdit (but I don't know for how long its going to work...)
I'd completely forgotten that I'd been involved in a discussion on another forum, where a French user worked out how to modify one of the files to fool the Google API. Another US member then provided a link to the modified file.
To cut a long story short, the modified file is at GoogleMaps_V3KeyEdit.zip
You need to unzip the file and rename it to GoogleMaps.dll and use it to replace the existing one at
C:\Program Files\Dnote Software\PoiEdit2007\plugins\htmlembed\GoogleMaps. dll
As I say, the loophole may be plugged any time. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |
