Updated to the latest mapcore/map on my 730 and now my pocketgps cameras don’t show any more. They are in the map folder and have copied mapsettings.cfg file to map folder. It just be me but cannot find a way to enable it. I did a search but not found anything. My search is probably as bad as operating my device.
Appreciate some help.

Have you tried a reset? _________________ Richard

I've not tried a reset yet. Is that the long press (drum roll) one or the pin one? _________________ Tibor

A pin reset is pretty harmless, but the long press one won't do serious damage either. So you can try both.
But try the following also - create a false Favourite and navigate to it, then delete it. Somehow, doing that seems to cure this fault. I've never had to do it myself, so can't be sure whether you do it in Operate my GO in Home, or on the device alone. Try it both ways. _________________ Dennis

I tried the usual ones (adding a favourite in Operate my GO etc) which works sometimes but not usually on my 730.
With this Navcore update, I ended up having to go through the lot from scratch. Remember that copying the mapsettings.cfg file is not a guaranteed route - it just works a lot of the time for other users.
You may have to just delete the file and let it be recreated then go through the POI sets. _________________ Gerry

I agree with Gerry... sometimes you just have to "bite the bullet" and go through the POI set-up process again from scratch.
It's very quick to just re-do it for ONE camera type/speed. Then you'll know if that's going to fix the problem for all the rest. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Problem solved.
My apologies for my lack of brainpower. When I said I was seeing PGPS files, I now realise I didn’t look close enough. The files I was seeing were only the .bmp files and didn’t look any further. There were no .ov2 files there at all. How they have got lost, I’ve no idea as before the update it was working fine.
Downloading and installing the latest camera update and copying Mapsetting cfg from the old maps from the device memory got everything working again.
Many thanks for all taking time to try and sort me out.

Makes you feel a right plonker, don't it?

You can say that again! I only hope I will remember it next time it happens. I'm looking for a device that can record my thoughts so i will be able to recap after moving from one room to the next. _________________ Tibor

I have just updated my TT Home after reinstalling my Win7 OS.
The update has changed my TT730 screen info and appearance, after installation the update told me to remove my card from the PC, put it in the TT turn that on then off then replace the card in the card holder in myPC. I was then advised my System was "INVALID" and to uninstall it, they updated it with an invalid program
Anyway, I logged in and could operate my TT from the screen, odd I thought.
I then downloaded the latest set of PGPSW speed camera details and copied these to my card and restarted the TT, the MPH icons had gone square and many seemed to be unreadable. I replaced the bitmap icons from the download, (not the X2 versions though as I have never used these.) but some icons are still unreadable, I have not tried this 'on the road' yet but wanted to check there was not an error somewhere. |

If you have app 9.430 installed, that IS the valid version and ignore the faulty error. _________________ David |

There is an issue with the standard 22x22 icons with the new software (I'm surprised more people haven't noticed this yet!).
TT were made aware of it, but released the software anyway....
What's happening is that your own 22x22 icons are being squashed down to 17x17 in order to put a black border round them.
If you use 24x24 icons the problem doesn't occur.
I have always used 24x24 icons that I made myself. Member"Gerry_C" (who also made the "X2" icons), did the same thing at around the same time but he was nice enough (and organised enough!) to put them up on a website to share them! They will look a bit bigger on screen, but at least they are readable!
Have a look here, download the "standard 24x24" set, and replace the ones in your map folder with the new ones.
-----------------
Incidentally..... the "X2" icons, used to be very useful for providing a BIG icon in the top left of the screen as you approached a camera, but in another of TomTom's 'improvements' some time ago, they shrunk THOSE ones down and put them in a box, so they ended up hardly bigger than the ordinary ones. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

That new size has made all the difference! Thank you for the link. I can now cancel my appointment with SpecSavers
The version I have of TT Home is shown as 2.8.3.2499 so I will see if I can update it again. |
