Is there a female computer voice for my Go950Live. I used to have Kate until she decided not to talk to me.

Can you not connect to HOME and download voices through the Add Voice Option on Page 1? _________________ Richard

No, Richard, there is no English Female Computer Voice available, so far as I can see. I have got Kate saved on my computer, but that has been a long term failed add-on. Cannot remember, what is was as it is quite a long time ago that 'she' was found to be faulty, not just by me but with other users. _________________ Gee-Pee

Kate works fine on my 940 Live even if she shouts a bit compared to the mp3 audio level, I think the issue is with Home as you can still download the Kate voice from the server at TomTOm and then install to the LoquendoTTS folder on the device using WinRar - Mike

Tried that, Mike, extracted the downloaded file and used Explorer to install to the Loguendo TTs folder, now neither Kate nor the only working one, Simon will utter a word. _________________ Gee-Pee

I had the 940 refuse to speak to me last year and unfortunately had to roll back to a previous backup to get it to start working.
See this thread.
I'd maybe try deleting mapsettings.cfg prior to this and see if that does anything for your problem (easier than doing a complete roll back) - it solved a lot of my other problems (if you use favourites you'll loose them though ). _________________ TT 825 (The companies)

That's a thought. I could give myself a good kicking, though! Mike told me years ago, to back up everything! I have religously done that - till now. Must have got slack using the Home3 devices, so this time failed to back up after the new Map and App. download. Now I have no backup. I do have some backups on a remote backup service so will try to find the original LoquendoTTS folder and replace it. Unfortunately, with a change of computer a few months ago, I lost much of my old backups.
That is a lesson I must learn from. _________________ Gee-Pee

I have just found the FULL backup I did on receipt of my GO950Live. Both Kate and Simon TTS voices are in the backed up LoquendoTTS folder. Would it work if I deleted the present Loquendo folder totally from the Device memory then copied the original folder from the Backup on to the device - or is that too simplistic .
There should not be any conflict with the latest app., should there? _________________ Gee-Pee

You know the routine by now....
1. Full EXPLORER backup of current unit's contents
2. Overwrite existing Loquendo folder with the backed up one
3. See if it works ........... _________________ David |

You may need to reset the unit after it's done. Good luck and report back. _________________ David |

STILL holding breath! According to my device info in Home2, I now have five voices, three Computer and two normal. The latter two work, but still no response from Kate, Simon or Susan (US)..
PS for 'Famous' read 'Infamous' elsewhere _________________ Gee-Pee

You know, I **think** supermod Mike_A has a 950. If so, you may compare notes about what his precise folder structure shows starting with his LoquendoTTS and sub folders compared with what yours has.

Better than just having a 950 Live I have one that has TTS working and a copy of the files on the PC but they are 93MB for the whole lot so a little large for e-mail, I can post em up somewhere for you to download or put a copy on CD and mail it over if you want? - Mike |
