|

Hi,
New to this forum and first post, so bear with me.
Have just bought a new nuvi 2545, also bought a traffic subscription, but have discovered I need a traffic reciever cable, have looked through the options on the Garmin site but can't see one thats compatible with my model.
Anyone have this model/cable combo could tell me which cable to buy.
Any info gratefully recieved.
Cheers Bob |

Not sure why you bought a traffic subscription, when you buy the cable you get 'free' traffic. There are a number of Garmin traffic cables and some work with some nuvis, some don't, I've never seen a definitive list so your best bet is to contact Garmin ... or visit a store where they have a 2545 traffic version |

Hi wrinkly1, do you have any web-links to a nuvi 2545, I can find a 2455 and a 2555 but not a 2545 let alone a cable for it
Thanks.
Edit, Not to worry, I've found one at PixMania. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

According to https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=134&pID=103818#specsTab the nuvi 2545 is capable of the following:-
Quote: | Traffic compatible (routes around traffic with a
receiver and subscription): yes
Lifetime traffic updates (receive free lifetime
traffic updates): no |
and there are no obvious references to any cables that may be required, if at all.
As sussamb suggests above, unless anybody else says that their combo works, contact Garmin for further clarification. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

OK Wrinkly1, as a TomTom person this shall be my last post. I'm way out of my depth here and posting in haphazard way. I've just downloaded the manual for your 2545:-
http://static.garmincdn.com/pumac/nuvi_2405_2505_series_OM.pdf Doesn't the description of Traffic on pages 50 - 51 explain what you need? _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

This really is my last post; Contact Garmin.
at the bottom of http://www8.garmin.com/traffic/
it says
Quote: | Digital 3D Traffic
Digital 3D Traffic delivers traffic updates every 30 seconds over the HD Radio™ system — giving you all the advantages of our extensive 3D Traffic with the added benefit of updates up to 10 times more frequently.
Free lifetime Digital 3D Traffic is included on the nüvi 3490 LMT. Add a Digital 3D Traffic receiver and standalone traffic services to get Digital 3D Traffic on the compatible nüvi 2405, nüvi 2505 and nüvi 3400 series. |
But a Digital 3D Traffic receiver does not appear to be available for sale yet from their on-line store.
Hence your original question _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Hi guys,
Thanks for you responses, after I had bought the subscription, because I thought it was integrated within the device and needed to be subscribed to, I tried to activate it in the car but when I went into Traffic it said, A traffic receiver accessory is required to receive live traffic updates.
I'll do as suggested and contact Garmin support.
Thanks again. |

Hi all,
Just to wrap this up, in case anyone was watching.
I contacted Garmin support and apparently for my Nuvi 2545LM I need a GTM 35 traffic receiver cable.
Acquired one from tinternet for £41 .
So looks like i'm stuck with a subscription I don't need , as mentioned by sussamb it comes with lifetime updates, I feel another call to Garmin coming on, see if I can get a refund...... as if.
A lesson learnt.

Glad you got it sorted.
I'd say that you have a good chance of getting a refund. Garmins own specification sheet for the 2545 definitely states that you need a traffic subscription and a receiver (as per the "Quote" on the 4th post above). _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599
