Hi all,

I am in the market for a new GPS device. I would like to be able to send destinations from Google maps on my PC and I understand both
TomTom and Garmin both support this but I need this feature without the use of a USB cable.

Can both companies "Live" models deliver the destination over the Cell network?

Does anyone know if this would keep working after the live subscription runs out?

I am looking at the live services on the TomTom devices. Am I right that updates for speed cameras come down over the cell network? IE no USB and computer is needed?

Does anyone know which level of Speed cameras are included in the £48 a year Live services? When bought separately they cost either £19 for standard or £35 for premium I can't work out what the ongoing running costs are.

Thanks
Tony.

The website "Send to TomTom" feature ONLY works with their old models (up to and including the Go x50 range) and that is only by a hard-wired connection.

The new models that connect using MyTomTom can't do it at all - they cannot accept any routes or destinations via any method wired or wireless.
(Bit of a 'shot in the foot' there, TomTom...)

As for camera updates, AFAIK, only their "active mobile sites" are currently updated over the air via the LIVE Services, all the fixed cameras are only updated when you connect to MyTomTom (hard-wired).
That situation may change in the future.

I believe it is the "premium" service that is included with the LIVE subscription. But I've never really understood the difference between the two - even their Premium service is terrible compared to the alternative camera database from this site.
