Nuvi - 1390 or 1690

Hi guys...

I've recently purchased a 1390 Nuvi unit and I am really pleased with it. A work colleague has seen mine and been out with me in the car and also wants one now to replace their old Tomtom.

I said I'd find him one at a good price. So after looking this morning I have found that Amazon still do the 1390 at £99.99 - however I notice that Garmin have a £30 rebate offer on, and that you could get the 1690 for £125 including the rebate (£155 without) - I have looked at the specs of both and the 1690 does the 10step routing and has the NuviLive option, have just called him and the 10-step thing isn't of interest, but still I am not sure what the NuviLive service will give over the traffic the 1390 does? Is it worth him getting the 1690 or going for the 1390.

Which one is the best bet for general a-b routing in the UK with traffic services? I don't want to recommend the wrong one!!
