TOMTOM one (4n00.012)

Being a tight, I am thinking of using my device on my push bike without going to the expense of a dedicated device for some all day use (ie about 10 hours cycle) in the summer.
Obviously the battery in the tomtom wont last long, so I was thinking of getting one of the trent imp1000 battery packs from an online shop. Its alleged rating is 11000mAh 5v.
Is it doable? Has anyone used one? I have tried searching the forum but either i am rubbish or no-one has wrote about one.

I've used an iWalk and a Nexxus for sometime to charge when walking [not often]. They both work fine, and are about half the capacity you are considering. The only initial problem was the iWalk failed to indicate when the charge level was no longer supporting the device, but still indicated that it was providing a charge. The Nexxus had an indication that it was no longer charging the device. As long as you keep your eye on the battery level indication on the satnav, you won't be caught out.

Wow, 11,0000mAh is quite come capacity!

I think the ONE has a battery of about 1000mAh's so you could expect it to last roughly ten times as long as it would on the internal battery.

I think you need to look at the rating label closer for it to reveal it's 11,000mA/Hr but at 3,7V this is stepped up to 5V probably using a DC to DC converter with an output of only 1A, you might find 1A inadequate to keep the TomTom fully powered as it will use some of its own internal charge at the same time as the external pack.

Undoubtably it will extend the useage time but possibly not as far as one might initially think, some TomTom car chargers can output up to 2A at 5V - Mike

Thanks for the replies people, most helpful.

Maybe the only way to positively tell, would be to buy it, like i will be anyway to keep other stuff charged and give it a blast.

I will report back when it gets warmer Laughing Out Loud
