Using my 3950 with FR305, I find that I can only see 6 sats. The signal gets lost on certain main trunk roads, motorways etc, no canyoning as there are no buildings either side or trees etc.for up to 30 -60 secs before it picks up signal again.
Yet it gives good reception around towns and where you might think you would lose signals.
Tried repostioning it, but no difference.
Any ideas

Inside car/outside car? Coated windshield?

Maybe your receiver is sensitive to interference from other electromagnetic fields (other car's systems or form your own car)?

Hi Lutz, I have the reciever mounted inside car at front alongside front windscreen pillar.Im sure my windscreen is ok as I get good signaL (6 SATS) most of the time. Its just that I lose it in the most unexpected places, where you would expect to get a very good signal. I travel on certain motor ways with un-interrupted views, and i can go say for 2-3 miles with no signal at all, yet around town I have no problem. Cant understand it. Dont have any other electronic equipement adjacent.

Are you sure the receiver is powered up properly? Maybe a loose contact somewhere? Like, losing contact when you accelerate?

Yeah its powered up fine, most of the time its ok, I was getting a good signal in switzerland amongst the mountains, yet on certain stretches of motorway near here, it just loses the signal completely. Always on the same sections, so I dont think its down to loose connections otherwise they would have shown up when I was abroad.

Any radiostation nearby? Or military installations? I had something like this once in Augsburg where the GPS would go deaf every time I drove by a rocket plant. Unfortunately, spamming GPS is pretty easy..
