Garmin 3790T

This SatNav has a touch screen.

On a map I can see a point I want to go to.

Is there some way to touch that point and then navigate to it?

Yes it almost does it. The only problem I seem to be having is that when I tell it to Browse Map it zooms off to the beginning of my last planned route (which is often my home). It then seems to be very long winded to get back to the area I was interested in, but once I have got back to that area, then indeed it does seem to be able to allow me to navigate to it.

So far, it certainly does not seem as easy as on my old TomTom.

The problem I have with my Garmin nuLink 1695 is that when I am using the Map Screen nothing seems to happen when I touch the screen so this method seems to fall at the first hurdle.

Can I use a stylus to get a more precise location and will this help me locate a point on the map?

Go to the "where to" icon at the bottom of page full of icons it says "near" ,click on that, and change default to "city or fav's" etc and then browse the map fron that screen . tap on it at the point you want to navigate to.
I too struggled until I read the manual properly and everything is perfect

Thanks, that's very helpful.

I am ashamed to admit that I obviously have not read the manual properly and I happily accept your mild rebuke.

It does get there eventually but it is stupidly slow - 30 secs or more - , especially if the map has a lot of detail in the area. Just one of many usability issues with this device. Many of them steps backward compared with my old Nuvi 360T.
