Start2 - Avoid motorways function

Hi All

I bought my mum a Start2 last year, assuming it had the Avoid Motorways function. Turns out not!

Followed the instructions here:

I tried all 3 versions of the text in tomtom.mnu suggested by kondor in the associated post. The problem is that the TomTom then boots straight to the options menu. There is no way to get out of the options menu & actually plan a route. It usually boots to a screen with 2 options: Plan Route & Browse Map.

Do you have an alternative text for tomtom.mnu I can try, or a whole different method?

I'm really disappointed with TomTom, my ancient one has this feature, I can't understand why they would remove it :-(

Thanks for getting back to me! My goal is to add the avoid motorways option to the Start2 menu.

I've found that you can set up a folder called SDKRegistry & create a file called tomtom.mnu to modify the menu structure on the device and restore missing features.

The tomtom.mnu text in the post above doesn't work properly on my Start2 - you lose the Plan Route option.

I have found text here that restores the avoid motorways functionality.

However, it leaves the interface a mess. I can use it to change planning preferences to avoid motorways, and then revert back to old menu structure by renaming SDKRegistry folder.

However, if I do this, then my mum would never be able to plan a motorway route. No good.

So does anyone have the right tomtom.mnu text for Start2 that would just add the avoid motorways option *without* changing the rest of the interface around?
