Hi all, fairly new to my A10 and am a bit confused about how to import POI files. I downloaded the list from this site (choose CSV as the selected satnav system which it says includes Satmap) and got the .csv (with .bmp icon files) downloaded onto my PC OK.

But getting it onto my A10 via Satsync seems a little more tricky. I created a folder in Satsync called My POI's and began to import. Cleverly, Satsync began converting them to .map files and sure enough they appeared in the folder I just created.

However, on powering up the A10 I can't see any of the POI's I just added (even when set to show all).

I'm guessing this is because the A10 doesn't actually know that they are POI's as such. Or is it becuase I put them in my own folder?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Sounds like you are doing everything correctly so makes me wonder if there is actually something wrong with the file. I've just downloaded this set of POI's http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/temp/users/272821_POIs.zip
and they appear in my satmap ok. Why not try this one. Which set of POI's did you try to download? if you tick the box on this site "show link" you will be able to post it here.

The bmp file won't load but the POI's themselves should.

Make sure that you don't have the csv file open in excel when you try to upload.

It has nothing to do with you creating your own folder that should be acceptable.

Can you see the folder in your satmap? OOI Menu/List all OOIs ...
Are you on the latest satsync and firmware. Open satsync connect Satmap click on help and check for updates.

Link no workee, Gibbo10....

If it was a download of PGPSW POI files, they are complied into a download package 'on the fly', and I think they disappear after you've downloaded them.

But how does the active 10 know the difference between a poi and part of a route if they are both just .gpx files (converted to Mapfiles via sataync)?

Hi

GPX files can contain various different tags that tell Satmap whether the GPX file contains Waypoints (also known as POI's) Track Points or Route Points. When Satsync reads the GPX file it looks for the tag and then makes the appropriate conversion.

e.g
Code:
wpt
in the file indicates it is a POI.

whereas
Code:
rpt
indicates it is route.

You can open a gpx file in notepad and you will be able to compare the differences.

OK, the POI's that I downloaded were from ...

1) United Kingdon
2) CSV
3) Bed & Breakfast (2011-06-21)
