|
|
Hello,
My GO720 has developed a distortion effect both to the screen visuals and the sound itself whenever the sound files are used, i.e. Simon or Kate give directions or a warning. Both maps on the internal and the SD car memories are affected although I have copied and pasted the same voice folder between the two. I first noticed the sound problem when I was setting up the camera data base Gatso voice warnings. Some of the warnings were broken or didnt work at all.
Anyone had anything similar ?. I am contemplating deleting the voice folders and downloading fresh ones but that wont correct the Gatso warnings I assume. |

Hi Mike,
I think I have cracked it !. No the fault doesnt occur when the unit is connected with a power cable is the answer to your question.
Having deleted all the voice files and then re-instating one new clean voice file the fault was still there. Strangely it didnt distort if I dropped the volume down to 50%. I then connected the unit to a power cable and put the volume back up to 100% and there was no problem ???.
Seems to me there is a battery problem developing here so I had better buy one ready. Its always been crap anyway. Only held a charge for 20 minutes from new !.
I've seen a sticky somewhere on fitting replacement batteries. |

It probably is the battery on its way out but it could be due to the navcore version you have got installed, the original software was much louder when selected to 100% the actual audio level was lowered during an update to reduce distortion - Mike |

Thanks Mike.
Thats interesting. I have recently installed navcore 8412 and only noticed the distortion since!. The unit also tends to shut down on occasions for no apparent reason even when on a power cable. |

Well, that application was never meant for the 720. Strange things happen when applications are mismatched for the unit installed upon. You may wish to consider downgrading to the proper 8.351. _________________ David |

As I am obliged to allways have the unit connected with a power cable in the car I think I will persevere with it and see how it performs over the next few weeks. If I still have problems I will consider Davids advice and go back to the old navcore 8351.
