Anyone know where I can download upated maps. I was driving around Crawley the other day and it kept telling me to follow the roundabout at traffic lights.
Also, how can I store my custom POI's without having them disappear each time I re-make a map. Anyone got any idea where these are stored, as I could possibly write an import program.
Before I bought Mapsonic I emailed ViaMichelin about map updates. Here is their reply:-
"Dear Sir,
Thank you for your message and your interest in ViaMichelin and our PDA products.
We would like to inform you that we offer you a free update to optimise our software on your PDA. To find the update , please follow this path on our website www.ViaMichelin.com: Store/ Map Display and Navigation/ MapSonic or MapViewer presentation and demo/ technical information (on the left)/ Update your software.
Besides, there is no update of the maps available, these are actualized in each new PDA software version every year and are made by our partner TeleAtlas, which provides us all the cartography.
We hope we could provide you with enough information to answer your request and if you have any other question, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Yours faithfully,"
I think that the lack of any way to update the maps is a very servere limitation in a map-based product. I bought it because I didn't need to buy any hardware, and £127 for the whole of Europe was quite cheap.
I have done quite a lot of moving maps backwards and forwards between RAM and SD card and PC, but my personal POIs have always persisted. I even wonder how I could look at a list of them and delete some, as I have even created POIs when I've parked my car in a strange town to find it again.

I'm interested in this too.
I found a file on the Palm internal memory, and another file in the windows installation. It seems to me this keeps POI's even if you change maps.
I wrote to Viamichelin, but they say they are not interested in a POI import/export function. I'm thinking to write something by myself, but any help would be appreciated.
Now I'm trying to "hack" the binary format of this POI file, but vacation is coming quickly.
