pocketgpsworld.comGoogle's Navigation App for Android devices has just had a fairly significant update. Since the start of this week users of Google Navigation will now be given routes based on real-time traffic updates as well as historical traffic data. While it is still a fairly basic navigation tool, it is one that more and more people seem to be using and the addition of traffic data will no doubt help boost the number of users of other app's that are perhaps missing traffic data altogether.

While it does not allow the addition of your own POIs or speed camera data remember you can still use our CamerAlert app to be warned of cameras on your (now traffic-free) route.

This is a very puzzling announcement (maybe it's new to USA??) since I have been using this handy traffic feature in the UK on my Android Google Nav app - HTC Desire since last Summer. (2010)
My commute along the M62 is often pre-checked by looking at Google navigation with route set and it's adjusted ETA according to traffic load. Very accurate it has been too, (100% better than my previous Garmin 255wt (TRAFFIC) which was next to useless for informing me of traffic data) however a warning - it can only calculate for roads with traffic flow info cameras.

Highly recommended. ***** Very Happy

'adjusted ETA' - but does it offer different routes based on traffic conditions? or does it simply tell you it will actually take 20min's longer?
