|
|
We like to think that our speed camera database is the most comprehensive available. To that end we go to extreme lengths to capture the locations of every fixed camera in the land.
We recently received a tip off that there was a fixed camera near Windsor that we didn't have and so off we trotted to capture the location.
This camera was difficult to get to, there was a toll to pay but once we had found it, verification was a ball, we went round three times just to be sure. It has now been allocated ID GATSO: 91167
For those unfamiliar with the area, it's here. _________________ Darren Griffin

However, the clarity of that image did make me wonder whether the PGPSW team had been making use of the Google streets photo project to accurately confirm map positions I should think it would be possible to tap into those images to produce a photo database of all fixed (and possibly even some 'mobile' locations. _________________ TomTom Live 1005 world maps |

As some of the images are several months old PGPSW never use StreetView to verify a camera. It might be used to help establish the location of a camera or even show that a GATSO is actually a CCTV camera, as i did when someone submitted a couple of SPECS cameras in Worcester Park High Street even though they are clearly signed posted with CCTV notices. After visiting the sites i could say that what was actually there was what is shown in StreetView. |

I tried to get that camera but I couldn't find enough red bricks to finish my car, don't you just hate it when that happens! _________________ Dom

But it seems that the Stig is taking one of those cars on a test drive. (look around a bit in Street view) |

The speed limit there would appear ambitious - if they change it to a more realistic 10mph will you be introducing a new category of Gatso to the database? _________________ iOS rokcs (but my typing - well....)

Don't think Eddie Izzard did a sketch for that.

I saw him on the English leg of the Circle tour. By that time, the Death Star Canteen sketch had stretched to nearly 15 minutes!
