I would like to read the Favorites I created during my recent Florida holiday and then store them as POIs.

I thought that i could red the current.gpx file using PoiEdit but recently I had no luck as PoiEdit returned the error message - Invalid xml

I can not put in the full message as I am told that I have entered invalid tags.

1. Can PoiEdit be used to read current.gpx files?
2. If so what is wrong with my PoiEdit or current, gpx file to cause this error?
3. How else can I convert Favorites to poi files?

Didn't it give a proper error message?

If you change the file extension to .XML and open the file in Internet Explorer, it will at least check the structure and give a meaningful error message if it's broken. The official test of a valid GPX file, is if it validates against its schema - see here ).

This can be problematic with Garmin generated files, since they have moved the schema location. (The web site sends a re-direct instruction, but the 'Saxcount' program doesn't honour it)

The file from the unit is already a poi file ...
...POILoader is more than capable of reading GPX files directly. In fact, it is by using GPX input that you gain access to some of the other fields, such as address and image links.

(It is true that POILoader can also read those olde CSV files that were quite popular last century Laughing )
