I have found on tomtom web site a GO530 Europe maps and a 5”screen XXL IQ routes Europe maps. I like the idea of a bigger screen size, but would I be able to install PGPSW speed cameras and custom voices on both these models. None seem to be the edition 2 (so much talked about as not being able to take the custom voices and cams). With regards to map updates all I would be interested in are UK & ROI, France & Belgium, would that also be covered by one of the so called region updates. If any one as one of these TT units please let me have you’re thought's and if you have you been able to install PGPSW cameras and voice alerts, any help would be much appreciated as reading through the forums is getting so confusing.

Both are good models.
The XXL has the larger screen as you say, but no expansion SD card slot, so you will be restricted to using the map zones.

the 530 has a micro SD card slot, so you can add as many full maps as you like.
It also has Bluetooth for handsfree, and the LIVE services (subscription after a free trial) with HD Traffic (routing around delays), Google Search etc.

Both will be able to take custom POIs (including the PGPSW camera database) and warnings, as well as extra voices.

Just a comment:

The memory card slot in the Go530 is a full size SD card.

Do you mean the 730, not the 530 [which was UK&RoI only]? Only difference is 530 has 1Gb internal memory and 730 2Gb. But both could hold the whole W&CE map on a 4 Gb micro sdhc card. The XXL has a 2Gb internal memory and no slot for expansion, therefore you would only be able to use one of the 4 zones the W&CE map is divided into for devices with fixed internal memory.

Otherwise the only difference is That the x30 has TTS, mp3, and FM output capabilities, the XXL does not have TTS, and I'm not sure about the other two functions. Both hold 3rd party PoIs.

I've referred to the W&CE map, but there is a smaller WE map, but it still exceeds 2Gb, I've not seen any reference to how that might be zoned, it is fractionally cheaper.

Where did you two guys come from? There was only the OP when I started my reply!

Yes, sorry, not a mico sdhc slot, but it will take a full-size sdhc card up to 32Gb[expensive], but 4Gb is fine.

Thanks for all you replies, think I will be going for the XXL IQ Routes. Reason being it as the larger screen (I already wear glasses so any thing big is a boon) also the mount looks better, less to put in your pocket when leaving the car. Very Happy

Do try to have a look and feel of the mount first...
the XXL uses the "Easy-port" mount style where a large plastic loop on the mount clips over the round area of the loudspeaker on the back of the unit.
Some like this, some don't. I find it pulls off a little too easily if you try to adjust the angle of the device.

Also there is a ring which you rotate to make the suction cup grip or release, and the larger dimensions of the screen DO make it harder to reach round to twist that ring.
Whether that's a problem or not depends on your particular windscreen and mounting position.

I've now got TTs that use standard sd cards, standard sdhc cards, amd micro sdhc cards. Sometimes my brain just goes AWOL. Or as in another post the other day, its an EBDAC. [emoticon for shoot self needed].
