|
|
Hi,
Just tried to install the above over v855 on my 4GB SD card and have got the following message after the download was aborted after about 10mins:
"ERROR: DesktopLib/InstallToDevice/GetInstallable/InvalidArchive1: This file is invalid (archive file): C:\Users\Administrator\Documents\TomTom\HOME\Download\complete\map\
Europe_2GB__Western___Central_Europe__Turkey_and_R-1\Europe_2GB.zip"
I have put off trying to update to this version because of previous disasters but I did think that by now this version would be stable. Does anyone have any clues as to what may have happened. I don't have to delete the previous version do I?
Cheers, jack |

Are you downloading via the device or a card reader? _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

The error message just seems to imply that there was a glitch in the download so the zip file hasn't worked out quite right.
I'd try downloading again. |

Thanks for the replies.
Andy, I have tried several times to download and it now stops after about 3secs with the message I originally posted. There is nothing in the SD Card that has recently been downloaded apart from the PGPSW Database which is fine.
Guivre46, I am downloading via the SD card which is in the device.
Oldboy, There are no zip files there.
Any further ideas would be gratefully received.

Do you mean that there are no zip files in the Folder called C:\Users\Administrator\Documents\TomTom\HOME\Download\complete\map\
Europe_2GB__Western___Central_Europe__Turkey_and_R-1/ ?
Are there any files there?
Are there any files in the map Folder?
What happens if you try, again, to Update my Device in HOME? _________________ Richard

Oldboy,
Thanks for your reply - I am popping in & out over the weekend so I won't be able to look at this again until tomorrow evening. To answer your questions:
4) I have tried on numerous occasions to Update but it throws me out in about 3secs as mentioned in earlier post;
1),2) & 3) There are 2 files in the map folder, as your description R dated 1.9.2010 (obviously my present setup) and R-1 dated 20.1.2011. In R-1 there is a zipped Europe-2GB file which is only 909,568KB. So, I guess I ought to delete the R-1 folder as this is obviously incomplete (it should be about 2.2GB) & try another download from HOME. Do you agree?

I see, from the TomTom site, that the Map size should be 2518.8 MB, although I think the zipped files are only 2200 MB.
When the download is completed successfully, there should be 5 files in the '-1' Folder; 2 zip files (the activation and the map), 2 image files and a TOC File.
When downloading, HOME will sequentially add a number, if it finds a Folder with the same name. _________________ Richard

Hi Oldboy, many thanks for your response. I made the deletion and I believe that I have now successfully downloaded v860 (won't know until I try it out) but all the files seem to be in the right place with today's date on except "mapsettings.cfg" which has 21.1.11 which is my previous download attempt date. Does this file need to be deleted too?
Incidentally the download took over an hour and the installation over 10mins. Pretty boring! (My PC is less than 1yr old running Windows 7.)

No. This file holds many custom settings such as your Home location and the settings for various options. Deleting it won't hurt as the TomTom will just generate a new one with default settings.
After a map install a unit may endlessly reboot in which case using Operate My GO in TT Home to add a Favourite usually fixes it. In some cases it doesn't and deleting the mapsettings.cfg file is the only option.
However if the unit work jujst leave it there.... |

Thanks for your response Paul.
After several crashes & seizures at home yesterday I tried the 750 out today on a journey and it seemed to work perfectly. However, when I got home I thought that I would try it again on the drive and blow me I had to do a drums roll reset twice due to it seizing up. Must be the satellites around here!
So, I guess I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed that it works when I next need it.
Cheers, jack. |

Did you try the fixes mentioned above?
Other wise move the mapsettings.cfg to your pc and start the device again. |

Hi,
I've been trying out the 750 on short journeys over the last 2 days and it just keeps resetting. I've tried loading a favourite using Home & that didn't worj so, last resort, I moved the mapsettings.cfg file to the desktop and restarted the 750. Checking in Windows Explorer reveals a much smaller .cfg file and obviously I have had to specify UK etc as all destinations have gone. The TRAFFIC bar hasn't reappeared and I can't check it out outside until some time tomorrow so I hope that hasn't disappeared.
Should I copy back the old .cfg file after removing the new one & is there anything else I should be doing before tomorrow?
Cheers, jack |

Latest:
Used the 750 twice today. On the first occasion the TRAFFIC bar took an interminable length of time to appear and then "find the incidents." Later, on the second occasion all seemed to be back to normal with everything functioning much quicker.
So, fingers crossed that there are no more issues - until the next map or other update rears its head and I have to decide again if it's all worth it!
Cheers, jack. |
