I have had this app for a couple of days and I have noticed that when using the map function, the map flashes. It doesn't matter whether I auto zoom or manually use the zoom function it still does it. The Maps App on my iPhone doesn't do this so it can't be a generic GPS problem.
Also the speed indicator is 3mph lower than 2 cars I have tested this in.
iPhone 3G
Appreciate your help please. |

Car speedos are deliberately calibrated to over read by up to 10%, so that they don't under read. Compare it with other sat navs and you will probably find they read the sam, both lower than the car's speedo. |

Never heard that issue before, can you describe it, is it the backlight going off perhaps? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi Darren
It's not the backlight going off. If you can imagine 'Maps' in use on the 3G iPhone and then imagine the map literally oscilating, flashing on/off. It's entirely random. I have tried it with/without zoom, whilst being charged/uncharged, etc. Toggle to the camera view - no flashing. I really have no idea.
Your App says it works with the 3G version of the iPhone - is it worth putting it out there on the weekly newsletter to see if anyone else is experiencing this difficulty - it really does spoil the use of this App.
Kind regards

I'll certainly ask, but I'd be surprised not to have seen reports of it before if this was a common issue.
You can turn off the map to prevent this from happening - not a permanent solution I know but it will at least allow you to use the app for now.
Are you using the latest version?
I'll post in the Newsletter tomorrow to see if anyone else has seen this. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Yes, I can turn the map view off Darren, however as soon as I drive into a 'camera area' it reverts back to the map view and starts flashing again. |

Not if you configure it as follows:

Sorry and yes I'm using the latest version of the App.
My iPhone is currently using version 3.1.3, not 4.2 because I have read all about the problems with downloading version 4 onto the 3G model.

Very wise, no issue with download or install, but it turns the 3G into a dog, much slower and little real benefit. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I have 4.2 on 3G. It runs much better than 4.0 did.
It could be an iOS 3 issue.

Head Up Display
Mirrors the display so you can lay it on the dash and have the image reflect in the windscreen - Top Gun style. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I am running the application on a 3G with iOS 3.0.1 - never saw any flickering. I wonder if this is specific to 3.1.3, and who knows how many people still use that? _________________ Lutz
